A Shared Creation

When we bring all creation into conversation with The GHAB™, a fuller picture of human identity begins to emerge, with the Holy Spirit linking us all together:

God – the source of life, love, and relationality, who delights in all creation. (Gen. 1:31)

Humans – image-bearers (imago Dei) who are also animals, called to reflect God’s character in how we relate to non-human creatures. (Gen. 1:26-28)

Animals – fellow participants in God’s story, who show up in our rituals, stories, and daily lives as companions and sometimes even teachers. (Job 12:7-10)

God created the animals, human and non-human, to share the land, water, and skies. We also share life’s vulnerabilities like death, loss, and grief, hence the brokenness of this world.

This perspective pushes back against narrow human exclusivity. It doesn’t deny human uniqueness, but it does question a worldview that imagines us as severed from or superior to other creatures.

Psalm 104 is one of the longest creation Psalms in the Bible, and it reminds us of important truths of how we share creation with the “other-than-human” animals. As you read it, see if you can spot how God provides for both humans and animals. Head over to Winston’s blog to read more. #TripleCWinston
