I’m Asking Myself, “Why Blog?” (again)

I find blogging difficult, even though I’m an avid journaler. I feel a weight, as if writing a blog is a commitment more than a choice, and I struggle with commitments. The challenge seems to be wanting to write something substantial and meaningful versus “Is it good or worthy enough? Some people write interesting blogs and remain loyal to the cause, but repetition drives me into a disastrous emotional turmoil. Completing a task is important and essential, and I know that, so it’s not the “finishing” a blog entry that’s the tedious part…it’s the perfectionistic monster that rears its head.

Then there’s the monumental question: “What impact will my words have?” Then, there’s The Parable of the Farmer who scatters the seed in Matthew 13:1-9. I believe we are to sow God’s love everywhere! Any expression of God’s love, scatter it everywhere! Carefully, and yet, everywhere!

On the internet, words are information, and information becomes power, which is the ability to get things done. So, if we have global access to countless words, then, by deductive reasoning, we could wield the weight of the information we read. Further, power could be used as in Hebrew: “tov” (good) or “rah” (bad). In step with the faith, “tov” power is our trek. The Spirit of God empowers us to do “tov” in the world. Jesus even gave us the Holy Spirit (Jn. 20:21) to go and do “tov.” So, this is why I’m writing. I want to continue doing “tov” in the world, knowing my words are scarce in the digital world. Here’s my bread crumb for the day.
